On Hillary, Hypocrisy, and an Old Hope

This blog has been petering off of late. That's such a weird phrase. A long time ago I guess there was some guy named Peter who had serious issues following through with things.

So it's been a busy few months. I've had a lot of thoughts to write down, but little desire to make the time to do so  I suppose that might be because every time I decided to write on a topic I had been thonking about a new one took hold all the more strongly. To reflect that I thought that it might be a good idea to tweak my TOC format a bit.

This blog is titled thoughts of a canary; what greater aptitude could there be than to give a bulleted list of my thoughts once a week! So please text/phone/email/carrier pigeon me your thoughts on the format tweak. You can tell me that A) You like it B) You love it or C) You only read this because I constantly pressure you to do so.

So without further ado, here's your 4/27/15 TOC:

•Sexism is discrimination because of the sex of the person. The liberal media, champion warmongers against bigotry, have been constantly supporting Hillary Clinton on one basis: her sex. This election is about sexism: the kind they don't talk about...

•"It is far better to give than receive." Man is far happier in the act of giving than in receiving. Crazy truth we commonly brush aside...

•The largest disparity between this culture and the more religiously inclined cultures of old is that we have thrown aside the idea of our ultimate goal. With so many confused about their ultimate purpose (which is synonymous with genuine, lasting happiness) the backward -looking cause/effect chain is broken. No wonder people are so sad and lost: they don't know how to be happy because they don't know what happiness is...

•a change in focus changes everything you do. In college I focused a lot on having fun. What I considered enjoyable was always tailored to that. Now there are many things I would have found dull that I find much more enjoyable than parties and the like. Focus changes who you are...

•In a democracy or republic an elected official is to represent the views of the people as a whole, and even more closely does he or she identify with the ideals of those that voted for him or her. I voted for Romney because he had the best chance of winning, not because I believed in his domestic and international policies. More and more I am coming to staunchly believe that change will only be affected when the candidates we identify with are the candidates we vote for...

•I think about the origin of foods quite a bit. What person was first strolling through the woods and decided to eat a fungus thinking it might be delicious? Why did someone even think to crossover pickling things from dead bodies to cucumbers...

•Still waiting for the musical Frank or Francis starring Nicolas Cage and Steve Carrell to come out...

•I found out exactly how MP3 players work a couple weeks ago #BehindTheTimes. It's pretty extraordinary that all complexites of musical interactions can be broken down into a code which encapsulates them into one...

•The FED won't raise rates until December at earliest...

•China will account for 25% of global economic output by 2050 as per Jeremy Siegel.Millennials out there have a fantastic investing opportunity...

•Remember, man, you are dust. You are simultaneously critically important and loved more than you will ever know...

Please take a sec to let me know what you think!

Pining Away: An Expose' Of Front Royal's One Landmark

I miss it...and I LIVE here. You've heard the name in casual conversion so many times before. You wonder to yourself, "Is it the Knotty Pine or the Naughty Pine?" as you've questioned a thousand times. It doesn't matter; you're going to go there for the first time and soak it in whether that "it" is its naughtiness or its knottiness.  You hop in the suburban filled with 9 other hungover college kids, and make the pilgrimage to the Mecca of collegiate fine dining establishments. As you tumble out of the car, your age old question in your mind is answered: Knotty. Shrugging off a keen sense of wistful thinking as to how cool it would be if it were the other, you step inside the hallowed doors. All of your senses are immediately and simultaneously assailed: and you love it. You blink rapidly as to shield your eyes with lubrication from the smokey onslaught. You inhale the medley of smoke, grease, and cheap beer (no matter the ho...

It is Time

“Time is a created thing.  To say 'I don't have time,' is like saying, 'I don't want to'.”  ―  Lao Tzu Imagine someone put $1440 in your bank account every morning. Any takers? Ok, too easy, let's add two stipulations: First: every minute you lose $1 and Second: at some unknown point, without warning, these deposits will stop forever. Where would that $1440 go?  Take ten seconds and think about what you would do in this situation.   That ten seconds was about 17¢, thank you for paying yourself attention. Those 1440 minutes are what every human has per day, the constant of human value. What we chose to do with that time in all the past 24 hour periods determined who we are today; what we choose to do with this current 24 hours determines who we are tomorrow . The great myth of human freedom is that we can choose to do something tomorrow. The only thing we know for sure about tomorrow is that it may not come. So how do we make the most of the time ...
