The Dialogues

W: Time to get up; you need to run.
B: 5 more minutes. You know I didn't go to sleep until late.
W: You've slept enough. Get dressed.
   B: Fine, fine..........................
B: I'm dying. I need to stop. The legs are tired. The lungs can't get enough oxygen.
W: I know it's hard. Keep going. You need this.
B: What do I need to do, die?! Can't you feel my pain? This is pointless. I need to stop.
W: I know what you are going through. I know that every nerve is telling you that it can take no more. I know your lungs are desperately gasping for oxygen and your muscles are battered and torn. Keep going.
B: You have lost all reason. I'm shutting this down. You don't know what I'm going through.
W: Ever since the soul was fused to you I have been here. In every decision of the past where you persevered I was there prodding. In every achievement wherein you were crowned I was the one who pushed you. In every success that you will have in the future I will have sparked your motion. Even the Mind is under my influence. Such is my purpose. I will never give up, though sometimes you may bury me under distractions and vices. I am what makes you be what you were born to be. I am what makes you Man.
B: Fine but I do this under duress.
W: Is there another way man achieves?

C: I can't do it anymore, mom. Work sucks. I feel like I'm not learning anything in classes. I have no friends.
M: it will get better! You'll make friends. Classes will get easier. Work will get more bearable.
C: I just feel like everything is conspiring against me all at one once, you know?
M: I know, my child. I know it's difficult for you. I promise things will look up for you. You're doing the right thing, and when you do that everything works out!
C: What if it doesn't? What if I feel like this forever and nothing ever gets better! Things have changed since you were young, mom!
M: My child, I have loved you since the day I first felt your life inside my womb. From that day everything I have done, I have done for you, so that you may be happy. When you emerged screaming into this world, I vowed to be there for you until my dying day. If you ever need to talk, I will stay up all night with you. If there is anything you ever need, I will give until I have nothing left. Things have indeed changed since I was a kid; my love for you will never change.
C: Thanks mom, I love you.
M: That is all I need to make it all the sacrifices worth it.

   S: I am weary, Lord.
   G: Tell me your troubles.
S: Life is hard. There is so much pettiness in this world you have put me in. I fall so many times. There are so many trials and tribulations I must undergo. Every day is a struggle against the world and the flesh and it's almost more than I can bear.
G: Trust in me. Shore up your weakness in my strength. Find shelter in Me when the tempests of the world make you lose your path.
S: I know that your strength is enough, but how can I find that strength? I know you are Love itself; why can't I put my pettiness and selfishness aside? I feel I am not enough.
G: Before the universe existed you were in my thoughts. From the moment you came into being I have held you in existence out of love. Through every decision you have made against me I have stayed by your side, patiently waiting for you to exercise your will. I will never leave you. Come to me and I will give you rest. Empty out your weakness and I will fill you with my strength. All you have to do is choose me.
S: Is it time to come home?
G: Not yet. You have work to do. I'll be right here.

Each one of you has a greatness inside you. Each one of you can do more than you ever thought possible. Find your inspiration.

Special thanks to my mother. Without her I wouldn't be half the man I am; love you, ma!

Pining Away: An Expose' Of Front Royal's One Landmark

I miss it...and I LIVE here. You've heard the name in casual conversion so many times before. You wonder to yourself, "Is it the Knotty Pine or the Naughty Pine?" as you've questioned a thousand times. It doesn't matter; you're going to go there for the first time and soak it in whether that "it" is its naughtiness or its knottiness.  You hop in the suburban filled with 9 other hungover college kids, and make the pilgrimage to the Mecca of collegiate fine dining establishments. As you tumble out of the car, your age old question in your mind is answered: Knotty. Shrugging off a keen sense of wistful thinking as to how cool it would be if it were the other, you step inside the hallowed doors. All of your senses are immediately and simultaneously assailed: and you love it. You blink rapidly as to shield your eyes with lubrication from the smokey onslaught. You inhale the medley of smoke, grease, and cheap beer (no matter the ho...

It is Time

“Time is a created thing.  To say 'I don't have time,' is like saying, 'I don't want to'.”  ―  Lao Tzu Imagine someone put $1440 in your bank account every morning. Any takers? Ok, too easy, let's add two stipulations: First: every minute you lose $1 and Second: at some unknown point, without warning, these deposits will stop forever. Where would that $1440 go?  Take ten seconds and think about what you would do in this situation.   That ten seconds was about 17¢, thank you for paying yourself attention. Those 1440 minutes are what every human has per day, the constant of human value. What we chose to do with that time in all the past 24 hour periods determined who we are today; what we choose to do with this current 24 hours determines who we are tomorrow . The great myth of human freedom is that we can choose to do something tomorrow. The only thing we know for sure about tomorrow is that it may not come. So how do we make the most of the time ...

On Hillary, Hypocrisy, and an Old Hope

This blog has been petering off of late. That's such a weird phrase. A long time ago I guess there was some guy named Peter who had serious issues following through with things.  So it's been a busy few months. I've had a lot of thoughts to write down, but little desire to make the time to do so  I suppose that might be because every time I decided to write on a topic I had been thonking about a new one took hold all the more strongly. To reflect that I thought that it might be a good idea to tweak my TOC format a bit.  This blog is titled thoughts of a canary; what greater aptitude could there be than to give a bulleted list of my thoughts once a week! So please text/phone/email/carrier pigeon me your thoughts on the format tweak. You can tell me that A) You like it B) You love it or C) You only read this because I constantly pressure you to do so.  So without further ado, here's your 4/27/15 TOC: •Sexism is discrimination because of the sex of the person. The liber...
